ലോകത്തിലെ പ്രഥമ പത്രം. AD 1618- ൽ ചൈനയിൽ ഉണ്ടായ പീക്കിങ് ഗസറ്റ് ആണ് ലോകത്തിലെ പ്രഥമ പത്രം . ഈസ്റ്റ് ഇന്ത്യ കമ്പനിയിൽ നിന്നും പിണങ്ങി പിരിഞ്ഞ ജെയിംസ് അഗസ്റ്റസ് ഹിക്കി 1780 ജനുവരി 29- ന് കൽക്കട്ടയിൽ നിന്നും പുറപ്പെടിപ്പിച്ചു തുടങ്ങി യ " ബംഗാൾ ഗസ്റ് " ആണ് ഭാരതത്തിലെ പ്രഥമ വർത്തമാന പത്രം . പീക്കിങ്   ഗസറ്റ്   ആണ്   ലോകത്തിലെ   പ്രഥമ   പത്രം(1618) " ബംഗാൾ   ഗസ്റ്  "  ആണ്   ഭാരതത്തിലെ   പ്രഥമ   വർത്തമാന   പത്രം .(1780) രാജ്യസമാചാരം ആണ് മലയാളത്തിലെ ആദ്യ പത്രം (1847) രാജ്യസമാചാരം ഹെർമൻ ഗുണ്ടർട്ട് 1847 ൽ ആരംഭിച്ച രാജ്യസമാചാരം ആണ് മലയാളത്തിലെ ആദ്യ പത്രം . തലശ്ശേരിക്കടുത്തുള്ള ഇല്ലിക്കുന്നിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഇത് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണം ആരംഭിച്ചത് . എട്ടു പേജുകളുള്ള ഈ പത്രം മാസത്തിൽ ഒരു ലക്കം വീതമാണ് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിരുന്നത് . പൂർണ്ണമായും സൗജന്യമായാണ് പത്രം വിതരണം ചെയ്തിരുന്നത് . ജോർജ്ജ് ഫ്രെഡെറിക് മുള്ളർ ആയിരുന്നു പ്രധാന പത്രാധിപർ . ദീപിക മലയാളത്തിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ ദിനപത്രമാണ് ദീപിക . 1887 ലാണ് ദീപിക പ്
