2018 കോമൺവെൽത്ത് ഗെയിംസ് ഔദ്യോഗികമായി XXI കോമൺവെൽത്ത് ഗെയിംസ് എന്നും ഗോൾഡ് കോസ്റ്റ് 2018 എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. 2018 ഏപ്രിൽ 4 മുതൽ 15 വരെ കോമൺവെൽത്ത് അംഗങ്ങൾക്കായി അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര മൾട്ടി കായികസംരംഭമായ ഒരു പരിപാടി ഓസ്ട്രേലിയയിലെ ഗോൾഡ്കോസ്റ്റ്, ക്വീൻസ്ലാൻഡ്, എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ നടന്നു. കോമൺവെൽത്ത് ഗെയിംസിൽ അഞ്ചാമത്തെ തവണ ആതിഥേയത്വം വഹിച്ച ഓസ്ട്രേലിയയിൽ ആദ്യമായി ഒരു വലിയ മൾട്ടി കായിക പരിപാടിയിൽ സ്ത്രീ-പുരുഷ വനിതകളുടെ കാര്യത്തിൽ തുല്യമായ പരിപാടികൾ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ലിംഗ സമത്വം നേടിയിരുന്നു. കോമൺ വെൽത്ത് മത്സരങ്ങളിൽ ആദ്യത്തേത് നടന്നത് 1930 ൽ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് എമ്പയർ ഗെയിംസ് എന്ന പേരിലായിരുന്നു.ഇതിൽ 11 രാജ്യങ്ങൾ പങ്കെടുത്തു. പിന്നീട് 1942 ല കാനഡയിലെ ‍ മോണ്ട്രിയാലിൽ നടക്കേണ്ടിയിരുന്ന ഗെയിംസ് രണ്ടാം ലോകമഹായുദ്ധം കാരണം മാറ്റിവച്ചു. 1950 ഈ മത്സരങ്ങൾ തുടരുകയും ഇതിന്റെ പേർ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് എമ്പയർ കോമൺ വെൽത്ത് ഗെയിംസ് എന്നാക്കി. ഈ പേരിൽ ആദ്യ മത്സരങ്ങൾ നടന്നത് 1954 ലാണ്. പിന്നീട് 1978 ൽ നടന്ന ഗെയിംസ് ആണ് കോമൺ വെൽത്ത് ഗെയിംസ് എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെട്ട് തുടങ്ങിയത്.
