TENSE-past perfect

past ൽ നടന്ന രണ്ട് events നോക്കുക 

ട്രെയിൻ സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ നിന്നും പോയി 

Train left the station (സമയം 3 .10 p m ) 

രാമു സ്റ്റേഷനിലെത്തി 

Ramu reached the station (സമയം 3 .20 p m ) 

ഇതിൽ ഏത് event ആണ് ആദ്യം നടന്നത് 

Train left the station (സമയം 3 .10 p m ) 

രാമു station ൽ എത്തിയപ്പോഴേക്കും ട്രെയിൻ പോയിരുന്നു എന്ന് പറയാം 

past ൽ നടന്ന രണ്ട് events ൽ ഒന്ന് മറ്റൊന്നിന് മുന്നേ നടന്നു എന്ന് കാണിക്കാൻ past perfect tense ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു . 

The past perfect tense is used to make it clear that one event happened before another in the past. . We can use the past perfect tense (had + v3 ) to do this. In short The past perfect tense is for talking about something that happened before something else. 

past perfect tense ന്റെ form (had + v3 ആണ് ) 

ഇവിടെ ആദ്യം നടന്നത് ട്രെയിൻ പോയതാണ് 

അതിനാൽ When Ramu reached the station the train had left 

Look at these two sentences. 

Janardanan left the house at 9;00 yesterday morning. 

Mary rang Janardanan’s doorbell at 8:15 yesterday. 

ഈ രണ്ട് actions ഉം നടന്നത് past ൽ ആയതിനാൽ past simple tense ഉപയോഗിക്കാം . പക്ഷെ ഈ രണ്ട് sentence ഉം യോജിപ്പിച്ചത് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കൂ 

Mary rang Janardanan’s doorbell at 8:15 yesterday but Janardanan had already left the house. 

We use the past perfect (had left) because the action happened before another action in the past (Mary rang the doorbell.) 

The train ---------------by the time Suma reached the station.
(A) left
(B) leave
(C) has left
(D) had left

Answer: had left
